Different types of industrial pumps – working principles, characteristics and applications

In our work and daily lives, we use various types of pumps. Pumps are the core of fluid transport systems; they draw in fluid, pressurize it, and then discharge it from the pump outlet. Pumps greatly improve our work efficiency.

If you have any questions about different types of pumps, this article may be helpful.

Pumps are mainly divided into two types: dynamic pumps and positive displacement pumps. I will explain these two types of pumps from three aspects: their working principles, characteristics, and applications.

Dynamic Pump Types

Dynamic pumps are fluid transport devices. The rotating impeller generates centrifugal force, drawing fluid into the pump. Then, the impeller pushes the fluid towards the outlet, and finally, the fluid is discharged through the outlet.

They are highly efficient and widely adaptable, therefore they can transport large quantities of medium- and high-pressure fluids.
